Moving along to the blog of the day, and a bit of a reflection on the year gone by but also a moment to look and plan for the year ahead. I write this after a busy day and a busy evening, after the clock has struck midnight crossing over from 2019 to 2020. I meant to write this yesterday but it has been a very busy few days. So I’m writing this tonight, as the fireworks are going off, as my partner watches ‘The Crown’ (on Netflix). I’m living my best life in my 40’s 😁.
And as I write I am thinking about the year that was and the year that lies ahead. There is a lot to think about and reflect on the last year, but if I were to condense it into 3 most salient points I would probably highlight the following.
- I had a blog on WordPress. This was ‘Fit For (Nearly) 40’. This launched at the beginning of 2019, where I cataloged and shared my fitness and well-being journey of losing weight leading up to my 40th birthday. Along the journey I began to see my fitness and wellness journey transform and transcend from a personal journey to something bigger where I was supporting the fitness and well-being of others. This made me think of a bigger project, bringing me to point 2.
- With the help of a very creative, intelligent and dear friend, I launched ‘Fit For Any Age’, a website where I now feature my blog. It has taken several months to get my head around the site and how it works and I am still learning more to this day, but I feel I am at a point where I am beginning to feel more happy and comfortable with how it comes together. - Along with the site, I launched an Instagram site, Facebook site and Pinterest site. They have been getting some good traction, with up to 80 followers on the Facebook, 63 on the Instagram and 213 followers on the Pinterest (or 54k monthly unique followers). This has come about with hard work, and help from my good friend. I hope to the numbers up more, and I hope to do this with your help 😉.

I also started a new job in the community and am going to study pharmaceutical training in January, so it is going to be a jam packed year, but I am still excited and revving to go with the incredible things that 2020 will hold. Planning ahead is about being SMART and using SMART goals. I have discussed this in previous blogs, but in next week’s blog I am going to go into more detail about the SMART goals of 2020, for myself, the site and the blog. One exciting development which I would like to share is that I am going to feature on a podcast in February with Elaine Godley on the Elastic FM Community Media Organisation. More details of the site and what they do can be found on the Facebook group. I spoke to Elaine and asked if I could give them a mention, so here we go.
Looking forward to working on the podcast and will keep you, the avid reader, up to date with developments.
In 2020 I plan to feature more podcasts, YouTube content and some interactive projects. I really am looking forward to the onward and upward journey of Fit For Any Age, and I am looking forward to taking you along for the journey. I am a guy who is (nearly) 40, who is sharing a journey of weight management and wellbeing.I am also a mental health professional with a wealth of years of experience in supporting individuals who have challenging mental illnesses and personality disorders.
Prior to my current professional role, I spent several years supporting members of the community as a fitness professional, assisting individuals with weight loss and health improvement programmes.
I completed a PGDip in Mental Health Nursing in 2013, and an MSc in Advanced Practice in 2016 in which I looked at improving nurses’ level of engagement with patients with challenging personality disorders.
In 2018 I successfully undertook a Clinical reasoning in Physical Assessments course with the view to start studying toward becoming an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in late 2019.
In 2015 I also undertook a Mentorship for practice (BSc Hons) course and have been supporting future nurses with their training and development. I have also recently supported a Healthcare Assistant Staff toward training in and successfully passing and achieving a Foundation Degree in Mental Health Nursing.
In my current role I am a person looking to support the physical and mental health and wellbeing of the individual. As part of my role within the health services in supporting individuals with mental health care needs, I am also currently looking to develop myself as a Wellness Coach, to support the individual with weekly wellness blogs, with the view to support individuals on a 1:1 basis as well as holding motivational lectures and seminars.
